2010 proved another good year
2010 proved another good year for the Association.
In addition to being awarded charitable funding status, the highlight of the year took place at Edinburgh Castle when our mascot Blue was promoted to bombardier by Colonel Huthwaite commanding officer of 105th Regiment R.A. (Volunteers).
Dr. Roger Kinns of the Maudslay Society also sent us a copy of his excellent paper on the history of the Nelson Monument time-ball.
The committee is presently working with 105th and Historic Scotland to organise the 150th anniversary of the setting up of the time-gun. William Chambers the publisher who bought Greyfriars Bobby his licence and collar was extremely interested in the time-gun project and was present at the inauguration ceremony of the time service in 1861.
I'd like to thank Jim Pritchitt a direct descendant of Chief Master Gunner Findlay for his generous donation and Joan and Vic at Mailbook Publishing for their loyal support over the last few years.
I'd also like to thank Ian Paxton and his sister Cath, John and Kit Lovie and Kit’s sister Isobel, my wife Stella and Pipe Major Bob Anderson for their help and professional support in organising the various events held during the year.
All the best for 2011. Brian McKenzie Chairman
