Dorothy Marsh
Dorothy Marsh the Senior Conservation Officer for the City of Edinburgh will be taking early retirement at the end of this week.
Dorothy invited the One o’ Clock Gun & Time Ball Association to collaborate with the Museum of Edinburgh to put on the highly successful ‘Toun’s Time’ exhibition at Huntly House in 2002.
The exhibition was opened by Piers Wauchope a direct descendant of Admiral Wauchope the inventor of the time-ball. The guests included Councillor Steve Cardownie and Neil Connery, brother of Sir Sean.
The Time Ball Challenge on 7th May will now set off from Artillery House, Colinton, Edinburgh. Keep watching this space for details.
This week’s historic photograph courtesy of Peter Stubbs peterstubbs@edinphoto.org.uk shows one of 105th Regiment’s ceremonial saluting guns standing outside the Greyfriars Bobby Bar. The saluting gun was limbered up and towed down from Artillery HQ in January to commemorate Greyfriars Bobby Memorial Day.
