Not long after the One o'clock Gun was set up Chief Master Gunner Findlay was admitted to Edinburgh Castle's military hospital. Diagnosed as having tuberculosis the gunner who had survived the Crimean War was buried in St. Cuthbert's cemetery at the West End. Photograph copyright of the One o'clock Gun Association.
