We’ve heard from Jay Wilson’s dad John

Jay WilsonWe’ve heard from Jay Wilson’s dad John. Although Jay's now a second year pupil at Hamilton College he's still keen on the One o’clock Gun and keeps in touch with Sergeant Shannon the District Gunner.

Jay’s photograph showing him kitted out in gunner’s uniform can be seen in our Personalities section. In addition to playing the pipes, Jay now has a set of drums.

The scaffolding on the Nelson Monument is gradually being taken down. The job should be finished by the end of the month and Dorothy Marsh the Keeper of Conservation at the City of Edinburgh Council tells us that work has restarted on James Craig’s House which stands not far from the Monument.

John and Kit Lovie and our mascot Blue are presently on holiday. Not sure whether to go to Portobello or Portsoy, John and Kit who live in North Berwick tossed a coin and decided on the latter. Blue is enjoying himself as he’s benefiting from the change of sea air and extra walks.

If you see a couple sitting on the beach with a small dog which looks like Greyfriars Bobby go and have a chat. Like Blue, John won’t bite you.
