Lorraine KellyTV presenter Lorraine Kelly arrived by helicopter on the Calton Hill to advertise Armed Forces Day on Friday, 17th June. Check out: edinburghnews.scotsman.com.

Lorraine who was flown in from RAF Leuchars in Fife was scheduled to fire one of 105th Regt. RA (V)’s Light Guns at the same time as the District Gunner, Sergeant Shannon fired the One o’ Clock Gun on the Mills Mount Battery at Edinburgh Castle. The twin firing did not take place as Lorraine decided to beat Shannon the Cannon to the draw.

Association members Bruce Vickery and George Robinson attended the Calton Hill Stakeholders meeting at the Nelson Monument last Thursday. The meeting was chaired by Frank Little, Head of the City of Edinburgh Council Museum Services. The minutes were taken by the Council’s Conservation Officer Paul Macauley who also showed the committee photos of the information panels on the Merchant Navy which will be set up in Nelson Monument in the near future.
