The Lord Provost

Mills BatteryThe Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh will be attending the annual ceremony to mark the death of Greyfriars Bobby on January 14th.

When the time gun was set up in 1861, like many others in the city, the terrier used the daily signal to go for his midday meal. 105th Regiment R.A. (Volunteers) will be taking part as 2011 marks the 150th anniversary of the setting up of the One o’ Clock Gun.

In addition to paying for Bobby’s licence, Lord Provost William Chambers gave a donation to help set up the time gun.

Bombardier Blue the One o’ Clock Gun & Time Ball Association’s mascot will be playing a prominent part in the annual event as usual.

This week’s photograph taken by the Army Press Office shows Blue receiving his chevrons on the Mills Mount Battery from Lt. Colonel Chris Huthwaite commanding officer of 105th Regiment R.A. (Volunteers)
