The Association members

Otterburn Training AreaThe Association members were invited to visit Otterburn Training Area by Colonel Huthwaite the Commanding Officer of 105th Regt RA (V) last Thursday.

After a briefing by RSM Roxby explaining the Regiment’s combat role, followed by a curry lunch, the members were issued with ear plugs and taken by bus to the live firing range where Major Searle and Sgt. Busby explained the sighting procedures before the order was given for the battery’s guns to fire.

Relief gunner Bombardier Allison Jones is not on duty at present due to an accident sustained while walking her Great Dane. The time-gun is presently being fired on Mondays by Sergeant Gray who took part in the re-enactment of the firing of the One o’ Clock Gun in June.

Mark Stephen’s 'Past Lives’ featuring the story of the One o’ Clock Gun can be heard on: www.bbc.co.uk/scotland.
