Blue promoted

Blue PromotedBlue Lovie the Association’s mascot has now been promoted to bombardier.

Blue was presented with his tapes by Colonel Huthwaite, commanding officer of 105th Regiment R.A. (V.) on the Mills Mount Battery on 4th October to mark World Animal Day.

The Association would like to thank Eric Dryden of Historic Scotland and Major Niall Archibald, H.Q. Edinburgh Garrison for their help in organising the event. Thanks are also due to the catering staff at Edinburgh Castle for feeding the army of Blue’s fans who turned up to see the terrier receive his stripes.

Edward McCarthy who was responsible for firing the time gun from 1968-72 and his wife Margaret met up again with David Henderson who stood in for the District Gunner when he went on annual leave in 1969.

Colonel Huthwaite also presented the winners of the Greyfriars Bobby Childrens Painting Competition with their certificates and book tokens.

Colonel Huthwaite will be dropping the time ball on the Nelson Monument on Friday 8th October at one o' clock.
