Only two weeks to go
Only two weeks to go to the World Animal Day Walk on Sunday 4th October. Animal lovers and their pets should assemble at Bum’s statue in West Princes Street Gardens (King’s Stables Road) at 1.30 pm.
If you feel like dressing up, Victorian costume would suit the occasion. If you don’t feel like wearing the full rigout, a top hat, bowler hat or deerstalker would fit the bill. Highland dress would also fit the occasion, while female walkers may like to turn up in a bonnet and shawl.
It’s appropriate that the Walk should start at Bum’s statue and end at Greyfriars Bobby’s memorial stone as both dogs were strays and cared for by the community. Don’t forget to to bring a plastic bag as the Parks Department has instructed us to leave the area around Bum’s statue as tidy as it was before we arrived.
The photograph of Bum’s statue was taken by Gavin Lovie.
